Myth:
IP phone systems have a much smaller feature set than traditional PBXs or
key systems.
False.
While this may be true for some LAN-based telephony systems, Vodavi’s Telenium
IP

was
developed from the ground up as a business communications solution. This sets it apart
from the type of product that is actually a router or Ethernet switch with some calling
features added to it. The feature set you get with Telenium
IP

is as robust as on our
traditional digital phone systems. Telenium
IP

is not a compromise.

Myth:
IP Telephony is based on new, emerging technologies, so it is immature.
False.
Telenium
IP
communications is based on well-established network and
telecommunications technologies.  Here are some examples.  First of all, IP phones and
gateway modules on the LAN, including the call processor, exchange information using
the 10/100-BaseT Ethernet/Fast Ethernet standard, which has been in use for decades
in computer networking. This set of standards comes from the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a leading international standards body in network
engineering.  Voice communications take place using the H.323 voice over IP standard.
This standard has been in widespread use since the first version was ratified as a
network telephony standard in 1996.  It has been periodically updated by the
International Telecommunications Union—Telecommunications Standard Sector (ITU-T),
which is the leading Telecom standards body.
