Removing MSM64i Modules
The BlackDiamond MSM64i module is hot-swappable. You do not need to power off the system to
remove a module.

You need the following tools and equipment to remove an MSM64i module:

ESD-preventive wrist strap
•
# 1 Phillips screwdriver
•
Replacement MSM64i module
To remove an MSM64i module:

Attach an ESD strap to your wrist and connect the metal end to the ground receptacle that is located
on the top-left corner of the switch front panel.

To loosen the module, unscrew the screws with a #1 Phillips screwdriver.

Simultaneously rotate the ejector/injector levers outward to disengage the module from the
backplane.

Grasp the module front panel with one hand, and place your other hand under the metal panel to
support the weight of the module.

CAUTION
To prevent ESD damage, handle the module by the metal panel edges only. Never touch the
components on the PCB or pins on any of the connectors.

Slide the module out of the chassis and place it immediately into an antistatic sack to protect it
from ESD damage and to prevent dust from collecting on the module’s connectors.

Leave the ESD strap permanently connected to the chassis so that it is always available when you
need to handle ESD-sensitive components.
