The keyboard for the 6200 Computer is described, the standard key definitions

and an interface for redefining shifted and unshifted keys are provided.
Consult the System BIOS for IBM PCs, Compatibles, and EISA Computers,

Second Edition, Phoenix Technologies LTD. for standard keyboard scan codes,

make codes, and break code.

30Ćkey and 56Ćkey keyboard hardware options are available for the 6200

Computer.  The 56Ćkey keyboard is a full alphanumeric keyboard with some

added function keys.  The 30Ćkey keyboard is primarily a numeric keyboard with

some added function keys.  Figure 5Ć1 illustrates the 30Ćkey keyboard:

The key legend displayed in Figure 5Ć1 is also printed on the key caps in black

text.  Typically, the gray overlay that surrounds the keys also have a key legend

printed in gold text.  This overlay legend illustrates what happens when the

[GOLD] shift key is pressed prior to pressing one of the keys identified in the

diagram.  Figure 5Ć1 shows the [GOLD] key as a dark key with no printing on

it.  Keyboard overlays simplify the process of redefining keys to fit an

application.  You can redefine both the unshifted and shifted functions for each

key, but if you use overlays it is easier to supply a modified legend for shifted key

functions.
