CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch and the network applications and
topologies that can be used.
ATM
The CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch makes use of ATM technology,
including connection protocols, user-to-network and network-to-network
interfaces. All features can be directly controlled via device management.
For more information on ATM, see Chapter 6 in the Operations Guide.

Protocols
The CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch uses numerous protocols to
connect to and communicate with other devices in the network. Among
the protocols used are: Interim Local Management Interface (ILMI) used
for connection over the user-to-network and network-to-network
interfaces as well as for address registration, signaling (Q2931) for
Switched Virtual Connection (SVC) used for dynamically managing calls
and PNNI phase 1 implemented for multiple switch networks. For more
information, see Appendix B in the Operations Guide.

PNNI is available in version 4.5 extended only. To order the Extended

Standards
The CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switches provide full support for ATM
Forum standards, including LANE 1.0 and 2.0, Token Ring LANE (LES
only), UNI 3.0, 3.1, IISP, E-IISP, UNI 4.0, PNNI 1.0, ILMI 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, LUNI
2.0, and Signaling Performance. The CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch
enhances these standards by supporting additional features in the areas
of LANE services redundancy, traffic flow statistics, and automated
large-network configuration, including E-IISP.
