During MPLS LDP GR, a GR helper takes the lesser one between its LDP neighbor liveness time and
the GR restarter’s FT reconnect time as its FT reconnect interval, and takes the lesser one between its
LDP recovery time and that of the GR restarter as its LDP recovery interval.

Restarting MPLS LDP Gracefully
To test MPLS LDP GR without main/backup switchover, you can restart MPLS LDP gracefully. You are
not recommended to perform this operation in normal cases.
Follow these steps to restart MPLS LDP gracefully:

Configuring BFD for MPLS LDP
Bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD) provides a mechanism to quickly detect and monitor the
connectivity of links in networks. MPLS LDP can use it to detect neighbor failures. After a failure is
detected, the MPLS forwarding plane can switch the service from the active path to a standby path. You
need to configure MPLS-related functions before enabling BFD for MPLS LDP.
Follow these steps to configure BFD for MPLS LDP:
