ANAGEMENT
 O
VERVIEW
On the basis of the first module “Getting Started” of this manual, the user needs
to learn about the “System Management” in order to further perform the
management and maintenance for the routers of 3Com and guarantee their
normal performance.
The system management includes:
System maintenance management

This chapter introduces the convenient system debugging and maintenance
tools and functions of the information center provided by V2.00 software,
which provide the network administrator with powerful supports for the
network monitoring and faults diagnosis
File management

This chapter provides information about the file system functions supported by
the software. The user can perform the management to the files in the hard
disk and Flash Memory, including the host software, configuration files and log
files.
It also introduces FTP, TFTP and XModem protocol, through which the user can
transfer files between the router and other devices.
User interface management

This chapter introduces four user interfaces supported by V2.00 software, i.e.,
the Console port, the AUX port, the serial port under the asynchronous mode
(TTY) and the virtual user interface (VTY). V2.000 software provides the user
interface view to manage the four user interfaces and control the user’s access
to the router via the interfaces.
User management

This chapter introduces the user management policy for V2.00 software
implementation, through which the administrator of the router system can
conveniently and efficiently manage users and the services used by them so as
to enhance the network security.
NTP (Network Time Protocol) configuration

This chapter introduces NTP and NTP configuration. The NTP services provided
by the software can help the system guarantee the consistent time of each
device in the network and ensure the reliability of interoperation by combining
the devices that support NTP.
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) configuration

This chapter introduces SNMP and SNMP configuration. Together with the
network management system, SNMP can implement the efficient management
for the devices running in the network.
Terminal services

This chapter gives an overall introduction to the terminal service functions
