VSX systems that have a serial port can be configured to receive closed 

captions from a captioning service via modem.

Go to System > Admin Settings > General Settings > Serial Port.

Configure these settings:

Configure the modem for 8 bits, no parity.

You may also need to configure the modem to ignore DTR and to answer 

automatically.

Set the baud rate to the same value as the modem. 

Select Closed Caption.
