Chapter 5  Installing MeetingPlace Web 

MeetingPlace Web requires Microsoft SQL Server. If you do not 
have SQL Server already installed on the Windows server, the 
MeetingPlace Web setup program will automatically install a 
compact version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 called SQL 
Server 2000 Desktop Engine.

Although you do not need to have the full version of Microsoft 
SQL Server in order to use MeetingPlace Web, you should install 
SQL Server if your MeetingPlace system has more than 480 user 
licenses.

Table 5-1 details the differences between SQL Server and SQL 
Server 2000 Desktop Engine as they pertain to MeetingPlace 
Web.

If you plan to install the full Microsoft SQL Server, you should 
install it prior to installing MeetingPlace Web. You can install 
Microsoft SQL Server on the same Windows server as 
MeetingPlace Web or on a separate Windows server. You will be 
given a choice during the install to select whether your SQL 
Server is on a local or remote server. 

If you are using SQL Server 7, you must install the SQL Server 7 
Service Pack 3 to fix a memory leak in SQL Server 7. You only 
need to install part 1 (database components) of the service pack. 
Please read the description for part 2 (OLAP services) carefully 
to determine whether you need to install it as well.
