New Part Numbers for Cisco SRE Service Modules

Starting August 2011, Cisco

®

 Services-Ready Engine (SRE) Service Modules will be 

updated with a faster hard disk drive (HDD). The height of the new drive has 
increased from 9.5 mm to 15 mm, preventing field replacement and Redundant Array 
of Independent Disk (RAID) hot-swapping on the existing Cisco SRE 700 and SRE 
900 modules. Therefore, new Cisco SRE 710 and SRE 910 part numbers will be 
introduced to accommodate the new, faster drive.

The 7200-rpm hard disk drive is 15 mm high, preventing interchange of spare new drives with the existing 9.5-mm 

drives for field-replacement and RAID hot-swapping purposes. For this reason new Cisco SRE 710 and SRE 910 

part numbers have been introduced. The height and speed of the hard disk drive is the only difference between 

Cisco SRE 700 and SRE 710 and SRE 900 and SRE 910. 

In addition, a new spare hard disk drive part number for the Cisco SRE 710 and SRE 910 will be introduced. 

Table 2 lists spare hard disk drive part numbers for the Cisco SRE Service Modules.
