Decide How You Will Install the NMI Software
The NMI software contains a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) agent
that allows the DNCS to transmit alarms and events to the Alarm Manager system.
Installing the NMI software disables the Spectrum Network Management System
(Spectrum) software on the DNCS, because the SNMP agent, as well as the Alarm
Manager product, replaces the Spectrum functionality.
The following two methods exist for installing the NMI software onto the DNCS:

You can install it directly onto the DNCS.
You can install it onto the DNCS remotely from the Alarm Manager server.
Decide how you will install the NMI software and then choose one of the following
options:
If you plan to install the NMI software directly onto the DNCS from the DNCS,
then follow the procedures in Install the NMI Software Directly Onto the DNCS
(on page 37).
If you plan to install the NMI software onto the DNCS from the Alarm Manager
server, then follow the procedures in Install the NMI Software Remotely From
the Alarm Manager Server (on page 41).
