These capabilities extend and enhance those present in IMC Supervisor Release 1.1, including policy-based 

hardware profile functions. They extend the core feature set of the IMC Supervisor and enhance usability functions 

in the platform to help simplify management operations for Cisco UCS C-Series, E-Series, and storage servers. 

The XML API provides a programmatic REST interface that enables scripting for this platform and the managed 

systems. The scheduler enables ongoing discovery of new platforms and provides the capability to deploy firmware 

for systems being managed at a specified time. The integration of Smart Call Home enables customers to 

configure the platform to automatically register specified faults with the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) 

for simplified problem reporting and resolution. 

Main Features and Benefits 

Table 1 summarizes the main features of IMC Supervisor with the Basic license. 

Main Features (Basic License) 

●  Enables customers to view inventory for multiple systems from a single interface (potentially across different 

sites) without the need to log into each system individually 

●  Provides data about the system, processors, memory, power supplies, PCI devices, virtual interface cards 

(VICs), RAID controllers, fault table, and log files 

●  Delivers a single pane showing the fault status for multiple systems in a single interface to help customers 

identify faults using easy-to-read embedded charts and tables 

●  Provides the capability to perform platform tasks, including power on, power off, and vKVM launch 

●  Enables the download, management, and updating of firmware across multiple servers using the Cisco IMC 

Noninteractive Host Update Utility and the capability to download firmware for all supported platforms from 
Cisco through IMC Supervisor 

●  Enables programmatic access to many tasks available in IMC Supervisor, including server, firmware, platform, 

and user management tasks 

●  Enables customers to initiate diagnostics using the Cisco UCS Server Configuration Utility (SCU) for managed 

servers and view results in IMC Supervisor 

●  Delivers consolidated email notifications for faults reported by the management systems to proactively notify 

users of these faults; multiple alerts are supported, and faults can be filtered by server group and fault severity 

●  Provides support for Smart Call Home enablement for the servers being managed (requires hardware support 

contract for managed servers) 

●  Enables users to add one or more systems to IMC Supervisor using multiple discovery methods, including IP 

range, subnet mask range, comma-separated value (CSV) file, and IP address list 

●  Assigns metadata tags to each system to enable users to filter and sort systems based on user-assigned 

attributes 

●  Gives users multiple levels of access and control over managed systems
