Upgrading Appliance Hardware 
If you are upgrading from an older Security Management appliance to a newer model, perform the 
following steps to transfer the data from the older appliance to the new appliance successfully. 
Note
It is important to remember that while it is possible to transfer data between Security Management 
appliances that are different sizes, the new appliance must have the same size allocations or greater.

Before You Begin

Understand the information in

Meet the prerequisites described in

Save a copy of the configuration file from your source appliance to a location that you can reach 
from the target appliance. See 
  •
You may need to edit the configuration file before importing it into the new appliance. For example, 
change interface IP addresses to ensure that they are unique on the network, or make the interface 
names on the new appliance match the corresponding interface names on the old appliance.
