Cisco MDS 9000 Family Release Notes for Cisco MDS NX-OS Release 5.2(8)

  Caveats
Symptom: Zoned Fibre Channel attached devices are unable to communicate when the ACLTCAM
space for zoning reaches its maximum allowed size.
This symptom occurs only on the Generation 4 Cisco MDS 9000 32-port 8-Gbps Advanced Fibre
Channel Switching Module (DS-X9232-256K9) and the Cisco MDS 9000 48-port 8-Gbps Advanced
Fibre Channel Switching Module (DS-X9248-256K9). The symptom occurs in the presence of
another ACLTCAM problem that happens repeatedly. When the initial ACLTCAM problem occurs,
the ACLTCAM entries are not properly freed up for reuse. Eventually, the ACLTCAM reaches its
maximum size and further entries cannot be programmed.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.

Symptom: The install all command does not do sufficient error checking to prevent npe/non-npe
image mismatches. No warnings or other messages are provided and the installation can fail.
This symptom occurs when either the system and the kickstart image are not of the same
(npe/non-npe) type or when the current running image is npe/non-npe and a new image to be
installed does not match.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.

Symptom: When FICON Tape Read Acceleration is enabled on a Cisco MDS 9500 Series switch or
a Cisco MDS 9222i switch, certain restore applications might experience a failure to read data on
the tape if the application performs large block reads against smaller blocked data.
This symptom might be seen when an application performs large block reads against smaller
blocked data.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.

Symptom: Fibre Channel interface counters display large values.
This symptom occurs when the interface is in use, and it is triggered by clearing the interface
counters when traffic is flowing.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.

Symptom: The Cisco MDS 9000 16-Port Storage Services Node (SSN-16) has continuous port
software failures
Workaround: This issue is resolved.

Symptom: SME Disk discovery is unable to find any disks presented to hosts from the storage shelf.
This symptom might be seen when DCNM is running and an SME cluster is already created and
functional. The HP C7000 blade enclosure is in a port-channel trunk. The core switch is NPIV
enabled and dual Cisco MDS 8-Gb Fabric Switches for the HP c-Class Blade System are in NPV
mode. Any disk discovery that involves the storage shelf and HP C7000 Blades fails to discover the
disks.
The symptom occurs in the Cisco DCNM Add Disk Group section when the Cisco DCNM web
client is used to configure SME.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
