Target Network Architecture (Clear QAMs)
Background
Beginning with SR 2.5/3.5/4.0, MSOs can use "clear" QAMs (QAMs that are
configured to pass content through without modification) to deliver unchanged PSIP
to DHCTs. In this architecture, the DNCS allows you to specify a Third-Party Source
Definition. This means that the use of the mirror QAM becomes unnecessary.

Definition. This means that the use of the mirror QAM becomes unnecessary.
In the following example, the clear QAM transmits the multiplexed transport stream
with unmodified PSIP data from the input device. The clear QAM passes the
unencrypted MPEG and PSIP data without modification.
