How can I determine the licensed features that are enabled
on my Cisco Content Security appliance?
Each of the software components, or features, of the Content Security appliance is licensed and
must be enabled before use. In order to enable these components, you must apply feature keys
that are provided by Cisco Global Licensing Operations (GLO) through product license
registration. Each feature key is specific to the serial number of the individual Content Security
appliance and has an expiration period that is associated with it. When a feature key expires, you
must renew the contract for that feature with your Cisco representative in order to continue the use
of the feature.
Note: A Perpetual key indicates that there is no expiration period for that feature. A Dormant
key indicates that the feature itself has an End User License Agreement (EULA) that must be
accepted, or that the feature must be configured and enabled. Once completed, the feature
moves to Active, and the expiration timer begins.
Note: For virtual-based appliances, only one virtual appliance license is needed for each
appliance product. This one virtual appliance license can be used for deployment on multiple
virtual appliances.
In order to determine the licensed features that are enabled on your Content Security appliance,
simply log into the appliance and enter the featurekey command into the CLI. As an alternative,
you can access the System Administration tab from the GUI and click Feature Keys.
Here is an example output from the featurekey CLI command:

Note: Refer to the Adding and Managing Feature Keys section of the User Guide for further
details.
