Using a Terminal Emulator Package
Premise
Rock Coast Products would like to use a terminal emulation program to find the
caller’s name based on the ANI, and then automatically create an email message
each time a call is received.

Use two macros since each can potentially be reused with other actions. It is easier to
create and debug small macros and then run them as two actions in a sequence to do

The first macro accesses the terminal emulation program and copies the
caller’s name to the clipboard.

NOTE: Terminal emulation packages can be unpredictable when
used with macros. The keyboard/terminal emulation must be correct
for the macros to record and play back correctly. Some terminal
emulation packages do not have a provision for highlighting and
copying text from a screen.

Make sure both programs are running before recording the macros. Also make sure
that the terminal program is logged in to a server, and open a text file using Vi (a Unix

Set up the Vi macro:
1. Open Vi, log into the server, and open the text file.
2. Start Desktop Administrator, click Voice Contact Work Flow, and add a new
action for the Ringing event.
3. In the Select Action dialog box, click New in the Run Macro dialog box.
4. Enter a new macro action name (for example, GetNamePutInClipBoard), then
click OK.
