Upgrading MS SQL Server 7.0 to MS SQL Server 2000
Step 3
Using the ICM service control, stop all ICM services on the local server.
Step 4
Make sure no one is using SQL Server 7.0 as the upgrade process turns off the 
server.
a.
To identify any active SQL users, run the SQL query sp-who2.
Step 5
Start SQL Server 2000 autorun.exe.
Step 6
On the first screen:
a.
Select Install SQL 2000 Server Components.
b.
Select Install Database Server.
Step 7
Read the Welcome screen, then click Next.
Step 8
On the Computer Name screen:
a.
Make sure the default of Local Computer is selected and the correct server 
name is present.
b.
Click Next.
Step 9
On the Installation Selection screen:
a.
Choose Upgrade, remove, or add components to an existing instance of 
SQL Server
.
b.
Click Next.
Step 10
On the Instance Name screen:
a.
Make sure Default is checked.
b.
Click Next.
Step 11
On the Existing Installation screen:
a.
Select Upgrade your existing installation.
b.
Click Next.
Step 12
On the Upgrade screen:
a.
Check Yes, upgrade my SQL Server Tools and data.
b.
Click Next.
Step 13
On the Connect To Server screen:
a.
Select Windows Authentication.
b.
Click Next.
