Support for Master and Slave
 
Some Power Mac/Server G3 computers support adding two 
ATA/IDE devices to the same ATA/IDE channel, or what is 
commonly known as master and slave. This configuration 
provides user with the ability to add additional hard drives 
or removal media devices to their system.
The Power Macintosh G3 Minitower and Macintosh Server 
G3 units that support this feature can only be identified by 
looking at the logic board itself and verifying the revision of 
the built-in video ASIC made by ATI Technologies. If you are 
looking at the logic board with the rear connector towards 
you, the video ASIC is located approximately 1” from the 
built-in video connector on the logic board. 
If the ASIC reads: “ATI 3D Rage II+DVD,”  the logic board 
does not support the master and slave configuration;  If the 
controller reads: “ATI 3D Rage Pro PCI,” the logic board
