Before operating the unit, please read this manual thoroughly and retain it
for future reference.

The DCC-L50 car battery charger (only for negative (-) grounded cars) can
be used by connecting to the cigarette lighter socket of a car as follows:
• to charge a lithium ion type battery pack
• to supply power to the Sony video equipment when operating with a

lithium ion type battery pack

WARNING

To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the unit to rain or moisture.

To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet. Refer servicing to
qualified personnel only.

CAUTION:

TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK, MATCH WIDE BLADE OF PLUG TO
WIDE SLOT, FULLY INSERT.

Notes on Use

Charging

• Use only a lithium ion type battery pack. This unit cannot be used to

charge a Ni-Cd type and a Ni-MH type battery pack.

• Attach the battery pack firmly.

Charging temperature

The temperature range for charging is 32°F to 104°F (0°C to 40°C).
However, to provide maximum battery efficiency, the recommended
temperature range when charging is 50°F to 86°F (10°C to 30°C).

Others

• Use this car battery charger only for cars which use a 12 or 24 volt

battery.

• There are cars which are negatively grounded and there are others which

are positively grounded.
This car battery charger is for negatively grounded cars only.

• Use the unit with leaving the car engine going.  If you use the unit with

the car engine stopped, the car battery may become unusable.

• This unit is not disconnected from the power source as long as it is

connected to the cigarette lighter socket of a car.

• Unplug the car battery cord from the cigarette lighter socket when not in

use.  To disconnect the cord, pull it out by the plug.  Never pull the cord
itself.

• Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord or if it has been dropped or

damaged.

• Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of

the unit.  If it does, a short may occur and the unit may be damaged.

• Always keep the metal contacts clean.
• Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
• Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.
• While the unit is in use, it gets hot.  But this is normal.
• Keep the unit away from AM receivers, because it will disturb AM

reception.

• Do not place the unit in a location where it will be in direct sunlight such

as on the dashboard.

If any difficulty should arise, unplug the unit and contact your nearest Sony
dealer.

Remarques sur le fonctionnement

Recharge

• Utiliser uniquement une batterie de type lithium-ion. Cet appareil ne

peut pas être utilisé pour charger une batterie NiCd ou NiMH.

• Installer correctement la batterie rechargeable.

Températures de recharge

Effectuer la recharge dans une plage de températures allant de 0°C à
40°C (32°F à 104°F). Cependant, pour obtenir des performances
optimales, il est recommandé de recharger la batterie dans une plage de
températures comprise entre 10°C et 30°C (50°F à 86°F).

Autres

• Utiliser ce chargeur de batterie uniquement sur des voitures ayant une

batterie de 12 ou 24 V.

• Certaines voitures ont une masse négative, d’autres une masse positive.

• Utiliser le chargeur avec le moteur de voiture en marche sinon la batterie

de la voiture risque de s’épuiser.

• Le chargeur n’est pas déconnecté de la source d’alimentation tant qu’il

est branché sur la douille de l’allume-cigare.

• Si le chargeur ne doit pas être utilisé pendant un certain temps,

débrancher le cordon allume cigare de la douille de l’allume-cigare. Pour
débrancher le cordon, tirer sur la fiche et jamais sur le cordon
proprement dit.

• Ne pas utiliser le chargeur avec un cordon qui est tombé ou qui a été

endommagé.

• Empêcher toute pièce métallique d’entrer en contact avec les parties en

métal de l’appareil car cela pourrait provoquer un court-circuit et
endommager l’appareil.

• Maintenir les contacts métalliques propres.
• Ne pas démonter ni transformer l’appareil.
• Ne pas cogner ni laisser tomber l’appareil.
• Il est normal que l’appareil chauffe pendant son fonctionnement.
• Eloigner l’appareil de tout récepteur AM, car il risque de perturber la

réception radio.

• Ne pas laisser l’appareil en plein soleil comme sur le tableau de bord

d’une voiture.

En cas de difficulté, débrancher l’appareil et contacter le revendeur Sony le
plus proche.
