3.2 Making a phone call 
using the navigator 
directory
Before using this feature, program the desired 
names and telephone numbers into the 
navigator directory (page 21).

Keep the front cover page open for button 
locations.

Press {>}.

Press {A} or {B} repeatedly to display the 
desired item.

Press {MONITOR} (KX-FP141)/{DIGITAL 
SP-PHONE
} (KX-FP145) or lift the handset.

The unit will start dialling automatically.
To search for a name by initial
Example: “LISA”
1. Press {>}.
2. Press {A} or {B} to initiate the navigator 
directory.
3. Press {5} repeatedly to display any name 
with the initial “L” (see the character table, 
page 19).

To search for symbols (not letters or 
numbers), press {*}.
4. Press {B} repeatedly to display “LISA”.
L
To stop the search, press {STOP}.
L
To dial the displayed number, press 
{
MONITOR} (KX-FP141)/{DIGITAL SP-
PHONE} (KX-FP145) or lift the handset.
Speakerphone operation (KX-FP145 only)
L
Use the speaker in a quiet room.
L
Adjust the speaker volume using {A} or {B}.
3.3 RECALL button (to use 
the recall feature)
L
Keep the front cover page open for button 
locations.
{
RECALL} is used to access optional telephone 
services such as call waiting. Contact your 
telephone company business office for details.
If your unit is connected to a PBX, pressing 
{
RECALL} allows you to access some features 
of your host PBX such as transferring an 
extension call.
Call waiting
When a call waiting tone is heard during a 
conversation, place the existing call on hold 
and answer the second call by pressing
 
{
RECALL}.

Each time you press {RECALL}, you can 
switch between the first and second call.
L
Incoming calls cannot be dropped by the 
person who has received the call.
Recording
3.4 Recording a telephone 
conversation (KX-FP145 
only)
You can record a telephone conversation. This 
conversation can be played back later, either 
directly (page 38) or remotely (page 39).

Keep the front cover page open for button 
locations.

During a telephone conversation, press 
{
RECORD}.
L
“2WAY RECORDING” will be displayed.

To stop recording, press {STOP} or replace 
the handset.
Note:
L
There may be legal restrictions on 
recording two-way telephone 
conversations. Inform the other party that 
the conversation is being recorded.
