How phone calls and faxes are received
If the call is a phone call, the fax machine will ring.
If a fax calling tone is detected, the fax machine will
receive the fax automatically without ringing.

Note:
R By default, the unit reduces the size of the received

document to 92% when printing (See feature #36 on
page 44 for details).

Make sure feature #73 is set to “TEL” beforehand
(page 46).

Press MAUTO ANSWERN repeatedly to display “TEL
MODE”.

How to receive phone calls and faxes with the base
unit
KX-FC275:
1. Lift the handset or press MSP-PHONEN to answer the

call.

2. When:

– document reception is required,
– a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or
– no sound is heard,
press MFAX STARTN.

3. Replace the handset if using it.
KX-FC265:
1. Press MSP-PHONEN to answer the call.
2. When:

– document reception is required,
– a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or

– no sound is heard,
press MFAX STARTN.

How to receive calls and faxes with the cordless
handset
1. Lift the cordless handset and press M

N or M N to

answer the call.

2. When:

– document reception is required,
– a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or
– no sound is heard,

3. Select “Fax Start”, then press

How to receive faxes with an extension telephone
If you have another telephone connected to the same line
(extension telephone), you can use the extension
telephone to receive faxes.
1. When the extension telephone rings, lift the handset

of the extension telephone.

2. When:

– document reception is required,
– a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or
– no sound is heard,
press MGNMBNM9N (default fax activation code)
firmly.

3. Replace the handset.

Note:
R To receive fax documents using the extension

telephone, you must set the remote fax activation to
ON (feature #41 on page 45) beforehand. The
default setting is ON.

To stop receiving
Press MSTOPN.

Make sure feature #73 is set to “TEL/FAX”
beforehand (page 46).

Press MAUTO ANSWERN repeatedly to display
“TEL/FAX MODE”.
R The MAUTO ANSWERN indicator turns OFF and

 (next to the battery icon) disappears from the

cordless handset display.
