Description
The Endpoint is a water register integrated with a 1-Watt 915MHz ISM
band radio and forms a part of the Smart Route AMR network. The
Endpoint is designed to automatically join the best available DataCollector
in range and transmits meter reading and status information as and when
requested by the DataCollector.

Installation Instructions
The Endpoint could be mounted on compatible meter-bases either inside
the water-meter pit or outside. The unit is designed to be wall-mounted or
pole-mounted in normal operation.

To mount the unit:

Fix a suitable adapter ring for the type of meter-base being used by
locking it in place. Contact BluTower directly to check compatible

Place the endpoint in the adapter ring. It could be rotated and
installed in any of the 4 positions at a 90degrees step. Select a
position which gets the antenna closest to the centre of the pit to get
the best wireless range.

Hold a magnet over the top side-wall of the top cover to the left of the
LCD screen to wake up the endpoint from the standby in to the
configuration mode.

Connect the DataConfig unit to the laptop and using the Endpoint
Configurator software on the laptop configure the settings required for
the endpoint wirelessly into the endpoint. Please refer to the Endpoint
Configuration Manual for details on the available settings.

Once done with the configuration, put the endpoint in the network
scan mode from the Endpoint Configurator software.

If the endpoint finds a DataCollector in direct range it joins it and
shows the Signal strength on the LCD.

If not it waits in the Level-2 Commisioning mode until it finds another
endpoint through which it can connect to a DataCollector network.

Note: All the DataCollectors required for the installation site must be
installed and the Level-1 Commissioning mode must be enabled on the
DataCollector before installing any endpoints.

Caution Ensure a separation distance of at least 20 cm (8 inches) is
normally maintained between the transmitter’s antenna and the body of
the user or nearby persons. The Endpoint is not designed for or intended
to be used in portable applications within 20 cm. (8 inches) of the body of
the user.
