Band Steering -
Enable or Disable
option buttons

If applicable, select the Band Steering Enable option button to activate this
feature in the WP201-100.

Band Steering works within the Access Point by directing 5GHz-capable
clients to that band.

l

The Band Steering sends 802.11n clients to the 5GHz band where
802.11b/g clients cannot go and leave 802.11b/g clients in the 2.4GHz band
to maintain optimal data traffic flow.

When the Band Steering option is enabled:

l

The WP201-100 hides the SSID information carried in 2.4GHz beacon
frames.

l

SSID information in 5GHz beacon frames is still retained.

l

Dual-band capable clients find the available SSIDs from only the 5GHz
beacon frames for connection by this method.
