2.  Connect the other end of the cable to your router or switch. 

 
It takes a few minutes for your router to assign an IP address to your 
computer. When your computer is connected, the following message 
appears over the LAN icon in the System Tray. 

 
3.  Double-click the LAN icon to view details for your connection. 
 

 
Use your computer’s built-in wireless LAN module to access your home or office 
network. The wireless LAN module is powered by the Intel® PROSet/Wireless 
utility. 
 
Wireless systems work in infrastructure mode or peer-topeer mode. In 
infrastructure mode, wireless devices communicate to a wired LAN via access 
points. In ad-hoc mode (also known as peer-to-peer mode), wireless devices 
communicate with each other directly and do not use an access point. 
 
To connect to a wireless network: 
 

 Press 

 + F8 to enable the wireless LAN module.   

 

  The Intel® PROSet wireless module automatically scans for available 

networks. 

 

  Follow the on-screen prompts to access a network. Click Help in the Intel® 

PROSet/Wireless utility for assistance. 

 

  Click the utility icon in the system tray at any time to open the Intel PROSet 

Utility. 

 

 
The built-in fax/data modem module enables you to connect the V5 to a remote 
network or the Internet or fax documents. 

Before making a dial-up connection, you must install connection components in 
Windows and create a dialing profile for the connection. More than one profile 
can be created for different connection purposes.
