Flexible Keys
A Flexible Key can be used either to seize a line in order
to make or receive a call, or used as a function key.
Press 
FLEX
 to display the Flexible Key list. Here you
can access the 12 Flexible Keys. The color of each key
number indicates the status of the line or the status of
the function assigned to the key.

To select a key, press [ ] or [ ] to select the
desired key, and then press 
.

The following types of flexible keys are available:
DN (Directory Number)
Seizes the line assigned to the DN key. When a call
arrives at the DN key, pressing the key answers the call.
Status Indication
Off: Idle
Green on: You are on a call using the DN key.
Flashing green rapidly: A call is being received.
Flashing green slowly: A call is on hold.
Red on: A shared line is in use or on private hold at
another unit.
Flashing red slowly: A shared line is on hold at
another unit.
Note
A shared line is a line that can be used by
multiple units. This is an optional feature and
may not be supported on your phone system.
If a call is on private hold (red, steady on), the
call cannot be retrieved except from the unit that
put the call on hold.
One-Touch
Calls the party or accesses a feature assigned to the
key. For details, see "One-touch Dialing (Page 27)".
Call Park
You can put a call on hold in a common parking zone
of a KX-NS1000 PBX so that any extension can retrieve
the parked call. You can use this feature as a
transferring feature.
A call can be put into either a specified parking zone
(Specified) or any idle parking zone (Auto). If a Call Park
button and Call Park (Automatic Park Zone) button have
been established, you can select either way to park by
simply pressing the corresponding button. When a call
is parked automatically, or more than one call has been
parked at the same time, you need to specify the
parking zone number to retrieve the required call.
Status Indication
Off: Idle
Flashing green slowly: You have a call parked.
Flashing red slowly: You or another extension has
a call parked.
Note
This key is available only if the CS is connected
to a KX-NS1000 PBX.

DSS (Direct Station Selection)
Calls the extension assigned to the button. During a
conversation, a DSS button can be used to transfer calls
to the assigned extension. A DSS button’s lamp also
shows the current status of the assigned extension.
Status Indication
Green on: The assigned extension is idle.
Flashing red rapidly: The assigned extension is
receiving an incoming call.
Note
This key is available only if the CS is connected
to a KX-NS1000PBX.

S-CO (Single-CO)
Seizes the line assigned to the S-CO key. When an
outside call arrives at the S-CO key, pressing the key
answers the call.
Status Indication
Off: Idle.
Green on: You are on a call using the S-CO button.
Flashing green rapidly: A call is being received..
Flashing green slowly: A call is on hold.
