Appendix B: Pop up the Apple iOS on-screen keyboard 

Note:  Supports  MS3390  with  scanner  firmware  version  V5.0.7  and  above,  and  Bluetooth  firmware 
version V1.7 and above. 

 
Usually, when you connect a Bluetooth barcode scanner to an Apple iOS device in HID mode, the iOS 
device recognizes the scanner as a keyboard and hides the on-screen keyboard (or called built-in virtual 
keyboard). Anytime you want to manually type anything using the iOS on-screen keyboard you need to 
disconnect the scanner. 
To  eliminate  such  inconvenience,  the  MS3390  scanner  provides  the  support  of  simultaneous  use  of 
scanning and on-screen keystrokes. This feature is enabled by default and is operated as follows. 

 

1.  Connect MS3390 to the Apple iOS device via Bluetooth. 
2.  Enter the Scan menu on MS3390. 
3.  When press the right soft key of MS3390 once, the Apple iOS on-screen keyboard is popped-up.   

Then  user  can  manually  type  anything  using  the  iOS  on-screen  keyboard  and  the  scanner  is 
connected to iOS device by Bluetooth simultaneously. The right soft key is below the symbol 

 

on MS3390 screen. 

4.  When press the right soft key of MS3390 once again, the Apple iOS on-screen keyboard is hidden.
