If you switch to a new Active Directory and select
Change primary DNS suffix when domain
membership changes
, the DNS suffix is updated to
match the new Active Directory domain that you are
joining. For example, suppose your current DNS suffix
is MyMachine, and you join a new Active Directory
domain called example.microsoft.com. The new DNS
suffix, (example.microsoft.com), is displayed under
the Primary DNS suffix of this computer, replacing the
DNS suffix (MyMachine) previously created for
membership under the old domain.
If your computer belongs to a group with a group
policy enabled on the primary DNS suffix of the
DataSafe NAS, the string specified in the group policy
is used as the primary DNS suffix. The local setting is
used only if a group policy is disabled or unspecified.
Including hyphens and periods, a DNS suffix may
contain up to 155 characters.
