TC12 Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance Handbook
5.3 OPERATION
5.3.1 General
Set the MODE and TRANSMISSION CONFIRM (TC) switches to the OFF
positions. Connect the mains supply. Procedure is now according to the operating
mode required.

5.3.2  OTU Mode (Simulating an Outstation)
5.3.2.1 Operation
Note.  Using the OTS in OTU mode will affect transmission since the OTU
input/output cable is detached from the OTU. This forces all OTU inputs to
the "1" state and this will be transmitted to the Instation.

Connect the two D-type plugs on the test cable 667/1/22658/000 or /001
(depending on whether inputs 1 to 16 or 17 to 32 of the OTU wish to be monitored)
to the D-type sockets on test cables 667/1/22658/002 and 003. Connect the test
cables 667/1/22658/002 and 003 to the D-type plugs on the test unit marked
'connect to controller only'. The berg sockets on the test cable 667/1/22658/000 or
001 are connected to the test cables 667/1/22658/004 and 005. The test cables
are then connected to the berg sockets on the end of the Outstation Input/Output
cable (667/1/22693/000) which will be wired into the traffic control equipment.

Check LED operation by using the LAMP TEST switch. Set the word selection to 2
WORDS.

Set the MODE switch to the OTU position. (If the connection fault indicator is lit
return the switch to OFF and check that correct plugs are fully inserted before
proceeding).

Set up the required patterns for data Words 0 and 1 output to the traffic control
equipment (Switches down to send control bit) - this simulates the 16 outputs on
the OTU PCB.

Note.  With both cable 667/1/22658/000 or /001 attached all 16 outputs are
controlled.

Set the TRANSMISSION CONFIRM switch ON (DOWN position). The controller
should respond to the data pattern set on the switches. The reply words from the
controller are monitored on the data indicators - the indicators show what the
status of 16 of the OTU inputs would be.

Note:  Controllers manufactured to MCE106 are not fitted with a Transmission
Confirm facility.

Repeat 5 as required allowing sufficient time for the controller to sequence
according to the stipulated plan (approximately seven seconds).
