Unpacking the Wood Splitter 
NOTEUnpacking the DR 6 -TON ELECTRIC WOOD SPLITTER is a two-person job.  We recommend you 
have an extra set of hands available before you begin.
 
Tool and Parts Supplied: 
 
 
Additional Tool and Protection Needed for Assembly: 
•  10mm wrench 
 
 
 
•  Metal Shears (Side Cutters)   
•  Operating Handle w/Knob  
 
•  Eye Protection 
•  Extra hydraulic seal 
 
 
 
WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN CUTTING THE BANDING.  THE BANDING MAY HAVE A LOT OF 
TENSION ON IT AND MAY SNAP AND CUT YOU.  ALWAYS STAND TO ONE SIDE WHEN CUTTING THE 
BAND.
 
 
1.  If you have banding around the shipping box, carefully cut the banding and open the box. 
2.  With the help of another person (the machine weighs 159 pounds), carefully remove your new DR 6 -
TON ELECTRIC WOOD SPLITTER from the shipping box and rest the machine on the front support 
legs and the rear wheels. 
3.  If you have banding around your motor and frame as shown in Figure 2,
 
cut the banding. 
Be careful when cutting the banding. 
4.  Remove the wooden packing wedge between the motor and the housing. 
NOTE:
  
Look under the machine, the wedge may be difficult to see. 
5.  Remove any remaining packing materials from the wood splitter.  Do not discard your packaging 
material until you are fully satisfied with your new DR 6 -TON ELECTRIC WOOD SPLITTER. 
6.  Screw the Operating Handle (found in the plastic bag) clockwise onto the threaded shaft 
protruding from the Support Plate at the rear of the machine and tighten it securely using the 
10mm wrench (Figure 2).

titled “Before Starting the Electric Motor” on page 13 in this manual.
