Using Highlights and Notes
You can highlight passages in a book and write notes about the passages.
Highlighting a Passage
To highlight a passage, do this:
1.  Press and hold on the word you want to highlight.  
If you want to highlight an entire passage, press and hold on the first or last word in the passage. When the pop-
up menu appears, drag a solid bar on either side of the highlighted word to select the remaining words in the 
passage.
2.  In the pop-up menu, tap Highlight
Your NOOK highlights the word or passage you selected.
Writing a Note
To write a note, do this:
1.  Press and hold on the first word of the passage you want to write a note about. 
A pop-up menu appears.
2.  Tap Add Note. 
A dialog box appears.
3.  Type the note.
4.  Tap Save.
Looking Up a Word in the Dictionary, in Google, or in Wikipedia.
Your NOOK includes a built-in dictionary. You can also look up terms in Google and Wikipedia directly from the 
book you are reading.
To look up a word, do this:
1.  Press and hold on the word you want to look up. 
A pop-up menu opens.
2.  Tap Look Up
Your NOOK opens a window with a dictionary definition of the word. 
3.  Do one of the following.
•  To search for the word on Google, tap the Google (g) icon.  
Your NOOK opens a Web browser and searches for the word in Google. When you have finished 
reading in the browser, you can return to your previous reading by opening the Recent Drawer in the 
System Bar and tapping on the cover you want.
•  To search for the word on Wikipedia, tap the Wikipedia (W) icon. 
Your NOOK opens a Web browser and searches for the word on Wikipedia. When you have finished 
reading in the browser, you can return to your previous reading by opening the Recent Drawer in the 
System Bar and tapping on the cover you want.
•  To close the dictionary window, tap CLOSE.
