Messaging application server load balancing
Modular Messaging server components such as the Tracing Server, Call
Me Server, MWI Server, Mailbox Monitor Server, Fax Sender Server
(MSS only), and Offline Call Answer store are installed on a messaging
application server (MAS), unless otherwise recommended.
In a voice mail domain that contains a single MAS unit, all such server
components are installed on this MAS. In a multi-MAS voice mail
domain, these components are distributed across MAS units. For better
efficiency, it is important that the load across MAS units in a voice mail
domain is well-balanced.
Distribution of server components
In a multi-MAS voice mail domain, server components such as the
Tracing Server, Call Me Server, and MWI server may be installed on the
same machine. However, for better efficiency, Avaya recommends the
following rules:
!
Install the Tracing Server on the MAS with the smallest number
of ports or on the MAS that handles the least number of calls. The
Tracing Server may also be installed on its own machine if
possible. In systems of large configurations, the Tracing Server
may need to be installed on a separate system, other than an
MAS. For more information, see
 on page 13-7.
!
Install the Call Me Server software and MWI Server software on
the same MAS. These services must be co-resident with the
Mailbox Monitor Server, and must be installed on the MAS with
the smallest number of ports possible, or on the MAS with the
second smallest number of ports if the Tracing Server is installed.
