The Reference Manual can be viewed using Adobe Reader or
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later, available for free download
from the Adobe website.

Start the computer and insert the reference manual CD.

Double-click the CD (Nikon 1 J1) icon in Computer or My
Computer (Windows) or on the desktop (Mac OS).

Double-click the INDEX.pdf icon to display a language selec-
tion screen and click a language to display the Reference Man-
ual.

Quick Start Guide—Describes how to set
up your camera.

User’s Manual (this manual)—Describes how
to take and view pictures.

Reference Manual (on CD)—A complete
guide to using your digital camera,
included as a pdf file on the supplied Ref-
erence Manual CD-ROM.

This guide provides fi rst-time users with information on setting 
up the Nikon 1 J1, taking photographs, and installing and 
using the supplied software. For information on taking and 
viewing photographs, see the
