Installing a Serial ATA RAID Controller 

with Multi-lane Internal Connectors

Models 9500S-12MI and 9500S-8MI, have multi-lane internal 
connectors, each of which can handle up to four drives. These 
controllers can be installed in an enclosure with a backplane. The 
type of cable you need will depend on the type of enclosure you 
have:

For use with a backplane that has the InfiniBand 4x connectors 
(SFF-8470), use the InfiniBand 4x cable, which has multi-lane 
connectors on each end, as shown in Figure 6.

LED indicators for 

individual drives on 

J7, J8, and J9.

The overall LED drive status 

indicator is on the last two 

pins of J7.

LED connector details 

J7 is for drives 0, 1, 2, 3 (top to bottom)

J8 is for drives 4, 5, 6, 7 (top to bottom)

J9 is for drives 8, 9, 10, 11 (top to bottom)
