Provision Remote Access Bank II
Pre-Provisioning and Testing
Pre-Provisioning and Testing
The Access Navigator’s flow-through provisioning feature enables the operator to remotely provision
Access Bank II voice and data services. These services can be provisioned at any time, even before the
Access Bank II is installed on the customer premises. When the unit is installed and powered up, the
Access Navigator automatically senses the DS1/T1 connection and downloads provisioning data
through the out-of-band Facility Data Link (FDL).
Requirements
NOTE:
T1 Type 1 facilities are recommended for reliable remote management. Type 2
facilities – in which the T1 is transported across other carrier networks – may not be
reliable because the FDL channel can be used or disabled by the other carriers.
Remote provisioning requires that all Access Bank II voice and data services be provisioned through
the Access Navigator, since local changes can not be remotely tracked and will be erased by remote
downloads.
For remote provisioning, the DS1 drop on the Access Navigator must be provisioned for ESF framing,
B8ZS line code, and Carrier Access FDL (CAFDL) remote management. On the Access Bank II, the
T1 interface must be set to ESF framing, B8ZS line code, and PRM protocol AT&T “54016”, which are
the default settings.
To support remote provisioning, the Access Bank II family requires Controller card software versions
between 2.21 and 2.99. Software upgrades for versions 2.00 through 2.20 are available through the
distributor or dealer from which you purchased the Access Bank II. Hardware and software upgrades
are required for even older Controllers. To display the software version, connect the Access Bank II to
your computer with CA’s Remote Monitor software, select the “Maintenance, DIP Switches” tab, and
either click the “Read Current Screen from Access Bank 2” icon or click the “Read Current Screen from
Unit” from the “Connection” dropdown menu.
