Stakeout Using Horizon-
tal Offset
The most common method for staking out roads,
pavement, curb & gutter etc. is to use a horizontal offset
from the actual point. For instance, a four foot offset
from finished back of curb (BC) is commonly used to
provide cut/fill stakes for a street and curb lines.
Preparing for the
example
In this section of the manual, a sample project  will be
used to demonstrate the procedures to follow for
staking a portion of the job. The project consists of a
3 m wide paved bicycle path with a curve. The project
will be staked on a 0.6 m offset from the edge of
pavement. The POB and PC will be staked for both
sides.
The example project for the TPS System
"ROADPLUS" program consists of a simple horizontal
and vertical alignment accompanied by a simple
template.  The project is designed to illustrate the
application of the "ROADPLUS" System. It is not
intended to provide a demonstration of road design
procedures.
