4 Getting started
Setting the
analog
recording level
Compared to analog tape, the
distortion that you get from
overloading a CD is much less
tolerable, and something you’ll
definitely want to avoid.
What you want to aim for is a
level where the loudest sound
from your source material is
recorded onto the CD at a level
just below the point where it
overloads (where it produces an
unpleasant, buzzy distortion).

Press INPUT SELECTOR to
choose the analog input.
Pressing

SELECTOR
repeatedly switches the active
input:
Analog - Optical -  Coaxial
The recorder’s display indicates
the current input.

Make sure the recorder is
stopped, then press
RECORD 
 ( 
 REC on the
remote control).
The recorder goes into record-
pause. (You can also press
MONITOR
.)

Start playing the source.

Adjust the recording level
using the ANALOG REC
LEVEL control.
Don’t let the recording level to
reach the red 
OVER
 indicator!
