During each work day:
a)
Connect AC Charger, Vehicle Dock, or Vehicle Power Adapter whenever possible.
b)
Verify charging indicator LED.
5.
The GoBook® vehicle power adapter is intended to provide a convenient, temporary power source for powering and charging the
GoBook® computer in a vehicle. This vehicle power adapter is not designed for continuous operation due to the nature of the
electrical connection. For additional information with regards to permanent installation of the vehicle power adapter please
contact your Support Representative.
Below are some recommendations for use of the vehicle power adapter with your GoBook® computer:
a)
Connect the GoBook® to the vehicle power adapter as needed, disconnect when charge is complete or not in use.
b)
Allow the GoBook® to power on and run from the internal battery periodically during the day.
c)
Regularly inspect the vehicle power adapter for loose or missing parts. Replace or correct as necessary.
d)
When not using the vehicle power adapter disconnect it from the vehicle power port ( 18V / 19V wall knob) receptacle and
the GoBook®.
e)
If the fuse in the vehicle power adapter repeatedly fails (opens) there may be a failure of the vehicle power supply or the
adapter itself. Please contact your Support Representative for further information and assistance.
f)
When replacing the vehicle power adapter fuse, use a replacement fuse of the same type and rating.
Troubleshooting
1) Battery Power – Battery does not charge
a)
Verify the connection and power to the charger.
b)
Check charger connection to the GoBook® and verify that it is detecting external power. The power status LED should be lit.
c)
Verify Battery status (Windows Power Options Properties or GoBook® Power Saver); ensure the battery is properly de-
tected.
d)
If the battery is not detected or charge status incorrectly reports fully charged, the battery should be replaced.
Note: Replacement Batteries can be ordered through the I-Care Servenet Portal and/or by contacting your Support Represen-
tative.
e)
If battery replacement does not correct the problem, contact your Support Representative for additional assistance.
2) Battery Power – short run time
a)
Ensure that the battery indicates fully charged (100%) following an over night charge.
b)
Following a full charge, if the battery does not last as long as expected or reported through the gas gauge a Calibration may
be required.
3) Battery Calibration
GoBook® batteries contain an intelligent gas gauge. This gas gauge is calculated by using the amount of power going into or coming
out of the battery and the capacity or size of the battery.  As with all rechargeable batteries the capacity of the battery decreases over
time and with usage. Without routine calibration, this declining capacity will create errors in the gas gauge. Calibration sets the battery
capacity to the actual physical capacity of the battery. This ensures the gas gauge is as accurate as possible.  An accurate gas gauge
will allow the GoBook® to warn the user of a low battery before data is lost during a low battery critical shutdown.  Calibrating also
allows for the detection of batteries that have reached the end of their useful life. Battery calibration should be performed once every
3 to 4 months.
Battery Calibration Process – Bios Level
NOTE:  Bios Level Calibration may not be available with all GoBook® Series Notebooks and Tablets. Use the Windows Battery
Calibration utility for models not equipped with a Bios Calibration option.
a)
Plug in the AC adapter.
b)
Restart the computer. When the initial startup screen appears, press either the [DEL],  [F2] or [ENTER] keys to enter the
CMOS Setup Menu.
c)
From the CMOS Setup Menu, select Battery Calibration and press [ENTER]. NOTE:  The AC adapter & Battery must be
present to continue.
d)
Select the Primary or Secondary battery (if equipped), then press [ENTER].  This will start the battery calibration process.
