Intel®SpeedStep™Technology 
 
Your Notebook PC is equipped with an Intel Mobile Processors with 
Intel SpeedStep technology, which allows you to customize high 
performance computing on your computer.    When the computer is 
connected to the AC adapter, it can run the  most complex 
business and Internet applications with maximum speed of 
processor.  When the computer is powered by a battery, the 
processor drops to a lower frequency (such as degrading to 
600MHz by changing the bus ratios and voltage), conserving battery 
life while maintaining a high level of performance.    Manual override 
allows you to boost the frequency back to the high frequency when 
on battery, so that you can customize the system performance to 
meet your needs.

Using Intel SpeedStep Technology 
 
Since Windows XP has the Intel SpeedStep technology driver built 
into the system, the processor performance is controlled under the 
Power Scheme setting in the standard power options (see page 4-7).   
No additional program or interface is employed to set the policy.
