Macintosh: Installing Utilities and Drivers  –  2-3
CHAPTER 2 – Macintosh: Installing Utilities and Drivers
This chapter covers installing utilities, drivers, and related files on Macintosh
computers.
Before You Begin
Installation depends on your Macintosh OS version.
Any classic Macintosh OS version (not version X):  When the XANTÉ Utilities
CD-ROM is inserted into the computer, the setup program starts (or should
start) automatically.
OSX:  The setup program will not start. Click the CD-ROM icon to open it; then
double-click OSX_setup. This provides a front-end for the installers available to
OSX.
Utilities Installation
This installation process is divided into the following areas:
Install Printer — covers automatically installing XANTÉ Utilities and printer drivers
and support files. It also opens the Adobe PostScript Driver installation program.
View Manuals — allows you to view and print the printer manual.
Register Online — allows you to open XANTÉ’s printer registration page if you are
online where you can register your printer.
Acrobat Reader — allows you to install Acrobat Reader onto your system so that you
can use that program to read the XANTÉ Utilities documentation.
Install ATM — allows you to install Adobe Type Manager onto your system.
Install PS3Fonts — allows you to download the Adobe PostScript fonts included with
your printer.
Adobe Products — allows you to open the Adobe web site where you can check for
new Adobe product information and downloads.
Install Printer, Acrobat Reader, Install ATM, and Install PS3Fonts are the main
installation programs. If you already have the latest Acrobat Reader and ATM
programs on your system, you do not have to reload them.
View Manuals, Register Online, and Adobe Products are convenient programs for easy
access; however, they can be run later after printer setup.
