You can use the Phone application with other 
phone functions, including non-Sony Ericsson 
applications.
Making a call
You can make calls from many of the phone's 
applications. This chapter primarily focuses 
on the calling options of the Phone 
application.
Making Calls from the Phone 
Application
Open 
Phone
, then enter the desired phone 
number. Select 
Call
.
Making Calls from Standby View
When no application is open, you can make 
calls directly from the keyboard. Pressing the 
number keys automatically launches the 
Phone application. Enter the desired number, 
then select 
Call
.
Dialing Features
When dialing a number, you can use a number 
of features, including:
Delete characters – press  
to delete 
characters.
International call prefix – press and hold 
to get the international call prefix.
Show/Hide ID  – select the 
Call and 
Show/Hide ID 
options in the 
More
 menu to 
display or prevent displaying your number 
to the party you are calling. You must 
select this option after entering the 
number, but before initiating the call.
Speed dial – press the number key 
corresponding to your speed contact, then 
select 
Call 
to make a speed dial call.
Send DTMF tones – press keys on the 
keyboard if you are calling a bank, for 
example. See Controlling tone-based services on page 23.
Other ways to make a call
Making calls from other applications
You can also make phone calls from other 
applications, including Call log, Contacts, and 
Speed contacts.
Making calls using voice control
Start by activating the voice control function 
in one of the following ways:
Say the ‘Magic word’ (only supported 
when a headset, or car handsfree, is 
attached to the phone). See Voice Control 
on page 68
.
Press and hold the call button on a headset 
or press the appropriate button on a 
Bluetooth headset.
