Cross Platform/LPD Options
If print jobs are submitted to queues from other platforms where there is no Netware
authentication, XCounter can attempt to look up a valid Netware user name from
either banner name or document name information. On NDS servers, XCounter can
search the tree for a valid user account starting at a specified context.
If a valid Netware user name is not found, then jobs can be deleted by leaving the
Allow unknown users to print box unchecked in queue configurations.
A particular object must own these types of print jobs, such as, the file server, the print
server, or a user. For example, Novell’s PLPD.NLM allows a default user to be
specified for all print jobs, if it doesn’t map UNIX to Netware names automatically. On
NDS servers, a full NDS name for the user must be specified.
To enable this feature, the job owner field must be left blank.
