Introduction
This document describes the Cisco IOS Software that runs as a process within Cisco IOS XE in
what is called the IOS daemon, or IOSd. While many of the infrastructure components have
migrated from Cisco IOS to Cisco IOS XE such as High Availability, the features of Cisco IOS
Software are exactly the same as those that run within the Cisco IOS XE as they do in a traditional
Cisco IOS release.
This document is important to understand the mapping between Cisco IOS-XE software versions
and respective classic IOS version that run on Cisco Catalyst 3850 switches.
It also explains the suffix at the end of Catalyst 3850/3650 product ID and what it means.
