Introduction
Introduction
With the Cisco 2600 series modular access router family, Cisco Systems extends enterprise-class and 
managed services CPE versatility, integration, and power to branch offices. The widely deployed Cisco 
2600 series modular access routers are designed to enable customers to easily adopt future technologies 
and scale to accommodate network expansion. The Cisco 2600 series shares modular interfaces with the 
Cisco 1600, Cisco 1700, and Cisco 3600 series, providing a solution to meet the today branch office 
needs for applications such as the following:
Internet/intranet access with firewall security
Multiservice voice/data integration
Analog and digital dial access services
Virtual Private Network (VPN) access
Inter-VLAN routing
Routing with bandwidth management
The Cisco 2600 series modular architecture provides the versatility needed to adapt to changes in 
network technology as new services and applications become available. Driven by a powerful RISC
