Rebooting the BIG and the BIG QAM
After tearing down the BFS and OSM sessions, reboot the Broadband Integrated
Gateway (BIG) and the BIG QAM. Reboot these devises by turning the power switch
off and then turning the power switch on. Then, go to Restarting the BFS Server
Processes, next in this section.
Restarting the BFS Server Processes
After rebooting the BIG and the BIG QAM, you can use the dncsControl utility to
restart the BFS Server processes on the DNCS. Follow these instructions to restart the
BFS Server processes.
1.
If necessary, open an xterm window on the DNCS.
2.
Type dncsControl and then press Enter.
Result: The Dncs Control window opens.

3.
Type 2 (for Startup / Shutdown Single Element Group) and then press
Enter.
Result: The Dncs Control window updates to list all of the DNCS

Type the number associated with the BFS Server element group and then
press Enter.
Result: A message appears that prompts the user to enter the target status
