Additional DNCS Behavior Change in SR 4.0
Overview
A change in the DNCS IPPV polling process behavior has occurred in SR 4.0. This
section provides an overview of this change.
Change in IPPV Polling Process
Prior to SR 2.5/3.5/4.0, when the DNCS received IPPV set-top billing information as
a result of the IPPV Polling process, the DNCS verified that the event matched an
entry in its database before sending the purchase information to the billing system. If
the event ID (EID) did not match the database, the polling process did not report the
purchase to the billing system and left the event on the set-top.
Beginning with SR 2.5/3.5/4.0, the DNCS now passes all Impulse Pay-Per-View
Beginning with SR 2.5/3.5/4.0, the DNCS now passes all Impulse Pay-Per-View
(IPPV) events to the billing system and removes the events from the set-top. With
this change, it is possible that a few old IPPV events that could not be validated in
the DNCS database will now be passed along to the billing system. These events will
upload like other events except that the package name for the old IPPV events will
be reported as “Purchased Movie.”
