Each installation package should be deployed using its own deployment package. Using separate 
packages offers faster isolation of potential issues than does a composite deployment package.

The deployment engineer should create and test both an installation and uninstallation deployment 
package. 

This is especially important for service release installations, which must be uninstalled before upgrading 
the underlying software.

Use a lab environment to model the pending deployment.

Install the servers to obtain valid client installation packages.

Manually deploy client installation packages to ensure that the installs are compatible with your 
environment. This will isolate product installation vs. automated deployment issues.

Create your deployment packages in accordance with the requirements listed in

Test the deployment packages.

At deployment time modify your deployment packages, replacing the client installation packages 
from the lab environment with valid client installation packages from the production server.

Correction: 

In the section, “Agent Desktop Problems” add the following troubleshooting item.

Problem: Desktop monitoring fails for agents who use Agent Desktop on their local LAN 
and also need to connect to another LAN via VPN.

Description: Desktop monitoring fails if a VPN connection is active. CAD assumes that 
if the VPN connection is active, then Agent Desktop is using it. As a result, CAD looks 
for RTP packets from the VPN connection rather than from the IP phone.

Solution: Use SPAN-based monitoring for agents who must use VPN in addition to 
Agent Desktop.
