Note: The Lab color mode is available only in Photoshop. 
Click a component next to the HSB, RGB, or Lab values. 
Select a color by doing one of the following: 
Drag the white triangles along the slider.
Click in the color slider.

Click in the color field.
When you select a color, a circular marker indicates the color’s position in the color field.
As  you adjust the  color using  the color  field and  color slider,  the numerical  values  are adjusted accordingly.  The color  
rectangle to the right of the color slider displays the new color in the top section of the rectangle. The original color 
appears at the bottom of the rectangle. Alerts appear if the color is not web-safe
 or is (Photoshop) out of 
gamut 
You can select a color outside the Adobe Color Picker. Moving the pointer over the document window changes it to 
the Eyedropper tool. You can then select a color by clicking in the image. The selected color is displayed in the Adobe 
Color Picker. You can move the Eyedropper tool anywhere on your desktop by clicking in the image and then holding 
down the mouse button. You can select a color by releasing the mouse button.

To specify a color using numeric values 
In the Adobe Color Picker, you can select a color in any of the four color models by specifying numeric values for 
each color component. 
Do one of the following: 
(Photoshop) In CMYK color mode (the mode PostScript printers use), specify each component value as a 
percentage of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. 
In RGB color mode (the mode your monitor uses), specify component values from 0 to 255 (0 is black, and 255 is 
the pure color). 
In HSB color mode, specify saturation and brightness as percentages; specify hue as an angle from 0˚ to 360˚ that 
corresponds to a location on the color wheel. 
Enter a hexadecimal value in the # text box. For example, 000000 is black, ffffff is white, and ff0000 is red. 
(Photoshop) In Lab mode, enter a lightness value (L) from 0 to 100, and an A value (green to magenta) and a B 
value(blue to yellow) from -128 to +127.
