Both DVD discs and video CDs have the material recorded in the PAL and NTSC systems. Refer to the table below to select the
correct disc type for the type of connected TV.

Played in the PAL system.

Played in the NTSC system.

The use of a multi-system TV
is recommended.

Can not be used.
Images playback in black and white. The images may also be
distorted or may overlap at the bottom of the screen.

Played in the NTSC system.
Specify the settings for the type of TV connected (4:3, 16:9).

PAL

NTSC

When viewed on a 4:3 TV, the images appear compressed hori-
zontally.

Can not be used.
Images play back in black and white.
