/ALCI

(appliance leakage current interrupter) safety device specifically engineered for
safety. It is for household use and may be plugged into a standard AC electrical
outlet (ordinary household current).
HOW ESP

The ESP

®

/ALCI safety device in this unit is built into the plug. This device will

make it inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as accidental
immersion in water. If the appliance is immersed in water, do not attempt to
reset the ESP

The ESP

®

/ALCI safety device is equipped with a test button so that its operation

can be checked.
TO USE (See Fig. A):
1. Press the Reset button on the ESP

®

/ALCI safety device.

2. Plug your hair dryer into an AC outlet then press the Test button. 
3. The Reset button will pop out. This verifies the safety device is operating

properly. If the Reset button does not pop out, do not use the unit. Return it
immediately for service.

4. Press the Reset button to reactivate the ESP

®

/ALCI safety device. Your hair

dryer is ready for use.

Repeat this procedure every time you use the hair dryer to confirm that the safety
device is operational.
SPECIAL ATTENTION
• If the unit detects an electrical shock hazard, it will immediately shut off. To

restore power, press the Reset button on the ESP

®

/ALCI safety device to

reactivate the circuit.

• This appliance is designed with a protective coating around the heating coils.

When operating the first few times, you may notice momentary smoking when
turning unit Off. This represents no danger to the user and does not indicate a
defect in the unit. The smoke should dissipate within a short time.

• Never block the air intake grille, as this will cause the unit to overheat. Should

this happen, a built-in safety system will operate, and the unit will shut off
automatically. Turn the unit Off and clear any obstruction from the air intake
grille. Wait 10 minutes before operating the appliance again. If the unit fails to
operate, it may indicate that the appliance has sustained extensive damage.
Do not try to repair it. See warranty for instructions.

• Never touch heating section as it may be hot and can burn you.
• To avoid possible scalp or hair burns, use very hot and fast setting only when

hair is wet. Reduce to lower heat as hair dries.

• Do not keep appliance directed at one place; keep it in constant motion. This is

especially important if drying a wig, which could be damaged by heat.

• For maximum airflow, hold dryer not closer to the head than six inches.
• To extend the life of the dryer, it is recommended to switch it to the coolest

setting for a few seconds before shutting it off.

• Untwist the cord from time to time to avoid tangling.
USING YOUR DRYER:
This dryer features two speeds and two temperature settings. 
• High heat/speed for most styling/setting procedures and hair types. 
• Low heat/speed for "finishing" a hairstyle or for drying and styling permed,

color-treated or fragile hair. 

HOW TO ADD/REMOVE ATTACHMENTS (See Fig. B):
1. Align attachment end tabs with air output end slots.
2. Push tabs into the slots and snap attachment into place. 
3. To remove, apply slight pressure to both ends of the attachment and gently

pull off from dryer.

DRYING AND DETANGLING
1. For initial drying use the High heat/speed setting. 
2. As hair begins to dry, attach the wide-tooth comb for detangling and

continue drying. Use Low heat/speed for fragile, permed or color-treated
hair.

SHAPING - To add fullness and body to your hair:
1. Half-way dry hair, attach the styling brush.
2. Set to the Low heat/speed setting.
3. Brush-dry your entire head of hair against its natural growth pattern, then

brush-dry into place.

4. Stop when hair is almost dry.
STYLING - Both the styling brush and fine-tooth comb attachments can be
used for final styling. 
• Styling brush – adds body, soft waves and smoothes hair 
• Fine-tooth comb – adds height and fullness
USING DUAL VOLTAGE
For use in the USA, the voltage selector should be in the 125-volt position.
For use in several countries overseas, the voltage selector may need to be
placed in the 250-volt position. Confirm the voltage available at each overseas
location before using the appliance. For connection to a 220-250 volt supply,
use an attachment plug adapter of the proper configuration for the electrical
outlet.
To change the voltage, be sure the power switch is in the OFF position.
Use an appropriate tool (small screwdriver, coin, etc.) to change the setting on
the voltage selector.
Note: When using the 250-volt setting, the dryer will work only in the Low
position, but it will be operating at High heat/speed. Do not, at any time, try to
force the switch into the High setting.

This appliance is permanently lubricated and will not require any additional
lubrication. It contains no user serviceable parts. 
1. Unplug dryer and let it cool completely before cleaning.
2. Wipe the surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not let water or any

other liquid get into the appliance.

3. Clean air-intake grille with a small brush to remove lint or hair buildup.
4. Store dryer in a clean, dry place with cord loosely coiled. Do not put any

stress on cord where it enters the handle, as it could cause cord to fray and
possibly break. Do not hang unit by the power cord; use the hanging ring.

Before returning unit for service: Clean the air-intake grille with a small brush 
or a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Then try to operate unit again.

1. Oprima el botón de reinicio (Reset) del dispositivo de seguridad ESP

/ALCI.

2. Enchufe el secador a una toma de corriente alterna, luego oprima el botón de

prueba (Test).

3. Asegúrese que el botón de reinicio salte hacia afuera para verificar que esté

funcionando apropiadamente. Si el botón de reinicio no salta hacia afuera, por
favor no use la unidad. Devuélvala de inmediato para que la revisen.

4. Oprima el botón de reinicio para reactivar el dispositivo de seguridad

ESP

®

/ALCI y poder usar el secador nuevamente.

Siempre que use el secador, oprima el botón de reinicio del dispositivo de
seguridad para reactivarlo y asegurarse que está funcionando apropiadamente. 
CUIDADO ESPECIAL
• Esta unidad se apagará de inmediato si llegase a detectar cualquier peligro de

choque eléctrico. Oprima el botón de reinicio del dispositivo de seguridad
ESP

®

/ALCI para reactivar el circuito.

• La unidad ha sido diseñada con una capa de recubrimiento que protege las

resistencias de calor. Cuando opere el secador las primeras veces, usted
podría detectar la emisión de humo al APAGAR  la unidad. Esto no representa
ningún peligro al usuario, como tampoco indica desperfecto en la unidad. El
humo se debería disipar en poco tiempo.

• A fin de evitar que el secador se caliente demasiado, no obstruya las entradas

de aire. En dado caso, un sistema de seguridad incorporado se activará, y la
unidad se apagará automáticamente. Apague el interruptor y limpie toda
obstrucción de la rejilla en la entrada de aire. Espere 10 minutos antes de
encender el secador nuevamente. Si el secador no funciona, es posible que ha
sostenido daño más serio. No trate de reparar el secador en casa. Consulte las
instrucciones de la garantía.

• A fin de evitar quemaduras, no toque el sistema de calentamiento del secador.  
• Para evitar posibles quemaduras al cuero cabelludo o al cabello, use la

posición y la velocidad más caliente sólo cuando el cabello esté mojado.
Reduzca la temperatura a medida el cabello se vaya secando. 

• No dirija el calor a una sola sección del cabello; mantenga el secador en

movimiento constante. Esto es muy importante especialmente al secar pelucas
que pueden dañarse con el calor. 

• Para lograr máximo flujo de aire, sujete el secador a una distancia no menor de

seis pulgadas de la cabeza.

• A fin de prolongar la vida útil del secador, se recomienda ajustarlo a la

temperatura más fría por unos segundos antes de apagarlo. 

• Desenrolle el cable de vez en cuando para evitar que se enrede.
COMO USAR ESTE SECADOR
Este secador cuenta con ajuste de dos velocidades y dos temperaturas. 
• Temperatura/velocidad alta para estilizar/peinar casi todo tipo de cabello.
• Temperatura/velocidad baja para "retocar" el peinado o para secar y estilizar

cabello tratado con permanente, teñido o marchito.

INSTALACIÓN Y REMOCIÓN DE ACCESORIOS (Consulte figura B): 
1. Alinee las guías extremas del accesorio con las ranuras de la salida 

de aire.  

2. Introduzca las guías en las ranuras a fin de enganchar el accesorio. 
3. Para retirar el accesorio, presiónelo por ambos extremos y hale.
COMO SECAR Y DESENREDAR EL CABELLO
1. Comience por secar el cabello con la temperatura alta. 
2. A medida que vaya secando el cabello, instale el peine descentrado de

dientes anchos para desenredar el cabello y continuar secándolo. Utilice la
temperatura y velocidad baja para secar y desenredar el cabello marchito,
teñido o tratado con permanente.

COMO DAR FORMA AL CABELLO - Para darle cuerpo y volumen al cabello:
1. A medio secar el cabello, instale el cepillo.
2. Ajuste el secador a la temperatura/velocidad baja.
3. Séquese todo el cabello en dirección contraria a la raíz y luego cepíllese el

cabello de manera normal.

4. Pare una vez que el cabello esté casi completamente seco.
COMO ESTILIZAR - Tanto el cepillo como el peine de dientes finos puede usarse
para estilizar. 
• Cepillo para estilizar –  agrega cuerpo, ondas suaves y suaviza.
• Peine fino descentrado – agrega altura y volumen.
COMO USAR EL DOBLE VOLTAJE
Para usar el secador adentro de los Estados Unidos de América, ajuste el
selector de voltaje a la posición que indica 125-voltios. En algunos países
extranjeros, el selector de voltaje podría tener que ser ajustado a la posición 
de 250-voltios. Antes de usar la unidad en determinado país, verifique el voltaje
disponible. Para conectar a una fuente de 220-250 voltios, utilice un adaptador 
de enchufe de la configuración apropiada para la toma de corriente.
Para cambiar el voltaje, asegúrese que el interruptor esté apagado.
Utilice un instrumento apropiado (atornillador pequeño, moneda, etc.) para
ajustar el selector de voltaje.
Nota: Cuando lo use en 250 voltios, el secador funcionará solamente en la
posición Baja, (Low) pero estará operando en la temperatura/velocidad Alta
(High). No trate en ningún momento de forzar el interruptor a la posición 
Alta (High).

Este aparato trae lubricante permanente de fábrica y no requiere lubricación
adicional a lo largo de su vida útil. No contiene partes de utilidad para el
consumidor. Cualquier mantenimiento debe realizarse por personal de servicio
calificado.
1. Desconecte el secador y permita que se enfríe por completo antes de

limpiarlo.

2. Utilice un paño suave humedecido para limpiar la superficie de la unidad. No

permita la penetración de agua ni de ningún otro líquido adentro del secador.

3. Limpie la rejilla de admisión de aire con una escobilla pequeña para remover

cualquier acumulación de cabello o pelusa. 

4. Almacene el secador en un lugar limpio, seco, con el cable enrollado

holgadamente. A fin de evitar que el cable se debilite y se rompa, no aplique
presión excesiva a la unión del cable con la unidad. No cuelgue el secador
por el cable sino que utilice el aro provisto.

Antes de tener que devolver la unidad para servicio o mantenimiento: Limpie la
rejilla de admisión de aire con una escobilla o con el cepillo de la aspiradora.
Encienda la unidad para comprobar si funciona apropiadamente.
