CRITICAL POLE INSTRUCTIONS
AFTER INSTALLATION - GIVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE FACILITY MANAGER
WARNING!!!  Failure to properly install and maintain this pole may result in pole and/or light fixture damage, pole collapse
and/or electrical shock hazards resulting in significant property damage or death.
WARNING!!!  To reduce electrical shock and structural collapse hazard:
• Install and maintain to meet all applicable codes.
• Do not install without a light fixture.
• Do not overload.
• Obtain qualified foundation, anchoring and if applicable, vibration certification based on local conditions.
• Provide proper electrical grounding.
• Use fasteners that are suitable for this application.
• Provide proper drainage.
• Inspect regularly for damage, tampering, nut loosening and internal and external structural corrosion.
• Damaged or corroded poles and anchors should be removed from service.
Caution:  Remove protective wrap on receiving poles. Continued contact with the wrapping material, while exposed to
weather, may stain the finish.
Foundations: Local soil and frost conditions vary widely. Consult a registered engineer familiar with these conditions for
foundation design.
Anchor Bolts: Use bolt and nut kits supplied by Hubbell Lighting. Use bolts and nuts from other sources only on the advice
of a structural engineer.
Templates:  Use factory supplied templates when setting anchor bolts. Hubbell Lighting will deny all claims for incorrect
anchorage placement if factory supplied templates are not used. Anchor bolts must be properly located to provide desired
light fixture orientation. Anchor bolts must be vertically plumb, and extend above the finished foundation surface to the extent
called for the bolt template.
Pole Erection: Thread two nuts and two washers on each anchor
bolt. Level the first nuts at the top of the foundation. Install the pole
base on the anchor bolts and install second washers and nuts.
Adjust the nuts to plumb the pole and torque as specified.

Grouting: If a more finished appearance is desired, the void between the base plate and concrete foundation may be filled
with a non-shrinking mortar grout. Drainage must be allowed from the pole base interior. A short length of conduit can be
slipped under the base plate and into the wet grout to form a drain from the pole interior. Rotate the conduit in the grout and
remove.
Two Piece Base Cover: (If supplied)  Install cover halves around pole base and screw together.
Fixture Installation & Wiring: Follow fixture installation instructions supplied with the fixture. Ensure proper electrical con-
ductor strain relief at the pole top and install the pole cap. Attach ground conductor to the threaded ground location inside the
hand hole and install the hand hole cover.
Maintenance: The owner/user’s regular scheduled maintenance program must include:
• Periodic inspection for external and internal corrosion, structural damage, nut loosening and hand hole cover integrity.
• Observation for excessive vibrations. If excessive vibration occurs, special vibration dampers may be required to reduce
these unpredictable harmonic problems. Consult factory for damper information.
